Diastasis recti is a thinning of the linea alba, which is the connective tissue where your rectus abdominis muscle (six pack ab muscles) meets in the middle from your pubic bone all the way up to your ribs. In pregnancy, there is a natural stretching and diastasis formation that is completely normal to accommodate a growing baby. This short video gives you a guide on checking the depth and width as well as location, checking above and below the navel, which you should be doing on a regular basis during your postnatal recovery journey. I am not a physio, and I advocate every women regardless of delivery, should see a women's health physio for a full internal and external check. This will really help you know what is going on in your body, and what you need to work on to speed up your recovery.
